Our History
Founded by Tahei Koizumi, one of the Omi merchants, Koizumi Sangyo Group has continuously developed for over 300 years with the Omi merchant’s idea of “Sanpo Yoshi (A good Deal for Everyone: making the seller, buyer, and society happy)” and our unique philosophy based on our corporate motto, “Developing a good personality.” Keeping these ways of thinking in mind, we will strive to meet the expectations of customers and society while looking toward the future.

Koizumi Sangyo Corporation predecessor established
1946
Name changed to Koizumi Sangyo Corporation Operations. Start of operations such as manufacturing and wholesale of electric, gas and kerosene appliances
1957
Full-scale entry into the lighting market, launching the brand “Hikari”
1967
Start of Showroom for “Hikari” brand lighting fixtures for the customers not only to explore with the catalogs but also with the realize the design and quality
1973
“ilum” – A Series of decorative lighting fixtures, imported from Europe.
1976
Establishment of the in-house design group which is called “Lighting Creative Room (LCR)”
1982
Start of “Light Caravan Mobile Showroom”
1987
Start of “Koizumi International Lighting Design Competition for Students”, which last over 25 years. There were more than 33,000 students applied from 42 countries.
1990
Start of showroom “Koizumi Lighting Theatre / IZM”. In addition to product showrooms, there were laboratories where the visitors could experience the various effects and feeling with lights.
1991
Open of Koizumi Technology Development Center. Establishment of Koizumi Lighting Corporation, where is directly managed as a lighting fixture manufacturing plant.
1998
Launch a series of lighting fixtures, which is produced with unique distribution control design. Its mission is to make the living environment comfortable with the harmony of light.
2000
Opening of office in Dongguan, China
2001
Certified ISO and ISO 14001
2002
Establishment of Koizumi Sangyo (HK) Co., Ltd.
2003
“D-Action“ - Action was a series of corroboration project with named designers over the world.
2005-2008
Opening and renewal opening of showrooms in Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka. Opening of new showroom space in Tokyo “OBAL (Organize Business with Advanced Lighting)”.
2008
Launch of LED Lighting fixture brand “cledy”
2009
Establishment of Dongguan Koizumi Lighting Corp.
2015
Opening of new showroom in Osaka “KLOS”
2016
Establishment of Koizumi Lighting Singapore Pte. Ltd.
2017
Opening of Koizumi Lighting Technology R&D Centre in Osaka, Japan
2018
Establishment of Koizumi Lighting Vietnam Co., Ltd.
